VIJAYAWADA: Members of the DWCUA and the CMEY Workers Union, an affiliated union to the All India Trade Union Congress, will stage relay hunger strike in front of the Vijayawada Municipal Corporation (VMC) office on July 11 and 12 demanding an inquiry into the reported irregularities in the Urban Community Development (UCD) cell of the VMC. Addressing a press conference here on Saturday, the union president, A. Ranganayakulu, alleged that the UCD officials did not follow rules while making purchases worth Rs. 1.5 crore. "An official of the cell is behind the scam. He released personal loans of Rs. 50,000 each to some entrepreneurs, which is against the rules," he said.
