Education programme launched



DEVELOPING SKILLS: The Hindu's Newspaper In Education programme in progress at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Kozhikode.

The Hindu launched the Newspaper In Education (NIE) programme for school children for the academic year 2005-06 in Kozhikode district on July 4. The schools joining the programme can choose modules of their choice. Based on the modules chosen, classes are being taken for students. The various modules offered include language skills, general interest modules (like disaster management, dramatics and being humane), life skills and theme-based modules like public speaking, cartooning, nutrition, behavioural skills, art and craft, career counselling and handling examinations.

The schools in Kozhikode and Malappuram districts that have enrolled for the programme so far are Alphonsa School, Thamarasserry; St. Paul's English Medium Higher Secondary School, Thenhipalam; Government Higher Secondary School, East Hill; Al-Farook Residential School, Kozhikode; St. Joseph's Higher Secondary School, Kozhikode; NSS Higher Secondary School, Meenchanda; Auxilium Nava Jyoti Higher Secondary School, Kunnamangalam; Prestige Public School, Kozhikode; Malabar Public School, Moodadi; St. Francis English Medium School, Perambra; Chinmaya Vidyalaya English Medium School, Kozhikode and Amrita Vidyalayam, Kozhikode.
