ERODE: The Bhavani Municipality will purchase ambulance for the benefit of general public, with contributions from social service organisations and philanthropists, said the Municipal Chairman, M. R. Soundararajan, at the council meeting held recently. One of the DMK councillors Siddhiyan wanted the civic body to purchase an ambulance for taking bodies to the burial ground. Earlier, Shanmugasundaram and Subramaniam (DMK) complained about the absence of some officials in the meeting. The Municipal Commissioner replied that from next meeting, he would ask all the officials to attend. An AIADMK councillor, Kamaraj, said the municipal drains were not being cleaned and urged the administration to monitor the cleaning of drainage. Another member Jafar Ali (AIADMK) complained that no major works were undertaken in his ward and to register his protest, he was staging a walkout.
