GULBARGA: The release of water to Andhra Pradesh from the Narayanpur dam in the Krishna basin was reduced to 37,076 cusecs on Monday following reduced inflow into the Alamatti dam. Authorities of KBJNL, who initially began releasing 58,725 cusecs of water from the Narayanpur dam on Saturday morning, increased it to 80,000 cusecs by noon. Sources in KBJNL told The Hindu that another reason for letting out water to Andhra Pradesh was the delay in releasing water to the command area as planned on July 15 because of the repairs to the Narayanpur Left Bank Canal at the 22nd and 52nd km points. While the repairs were nearing completion at the 22nd km point the strengthening of the embankment at the 52nd km point has not been completed.
