KARIMNAGAR<167: The Communist Party of India (CPI) district unit leaders lay a siege to the Karimnagar Municipal Corporation office on Monday demanding that the Government allocate house sites, ration cards and basic amenities to the people of the town. The ZPTC member, K. Shoba Rani, the party town secretary, K. Ramgopal Reddy, the AIYF secretary, B. Ashok, and others participated in the protest. They demanded ration cards to eligible persons and sought increase in annual income to Rs. 40,000 per annum. They also demanded that the Government increase old-age pension to Rs. 250 per month. KARIMNAGAR<167: 3P>ADILABAD: The CPI Adilabad town unit picketed the Adilabad Municipality in pursuance of the demand for basic amenities. The party leaders criticised the State Government for going back on its election promises like allotment of houses, providing safe drinking water and improvement of slums. A large number of slogan shouting CPI activists took out a rally from their office to municipality via the Ambedkar chowk.
