New vehicle donated

MANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANG: The Society for the Welfare of the Disabled which runs the Mangala Jyothi Integrated School has received a new vehicle as donation from the Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara Institutions for transporting physically and mentally challenged children.

The vehicle was received by the Mayor of Mangalore, Purandaradasa Kulur, on behalf of the school and asssistant, RTO A.V. Shridhar, launched the vehicle in a simple ceremony here today. — Staff Correspondent

Seminar on Tulu culture

MANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANG: Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Academy will organise a seminar on "Tulu culture, modernisation and women'' at the academy on July 15, a press release said.

Janaki M, lecturer, S.M.S. Pre-University College, Brahmavar, Sujatha Mudradi, principal, Pragathi Training Institute, Moodbidri and Ratnavathi J Baikadi, teacher, Besant High School, Mangalore, will speak on the subject. M. K. Seetharama Kulal, president of the academy will preside over the same.

There will be singing of Tulu "paddana'' and other Tulu songs. — Staff Correspondent

MANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANG: Sullia recorded 73.4 mm rainfall, which is the maximum recoreded in Dakshina Kannada in the last 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. on Monday.

Uppinangady recorded 73 mm rainfall, Bantwal 62.8 mm, Puttur 53 mm, Belthangady 50.6 mm, Mangalore 47.8 mm and Bajpe airport 41 mm rainfall. — Staff Correspondent

MANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANGALOREMANG: The Karnataka Urban Infrastructure Development and Finance Corporation (KUIDFC) has launched its website www.kuidfc.com. People can access information on the progress of developmental works taken up by the KUIDFC.
