HYDERABAD: Congressmen in the State are planning to give a wake-up call to party high command over what they feel is a long rope being given to the Telangana Rashtra Samithi, a sub-regional party, by presenting a fact-file to lend substance to their argument. Simultaneously, they are mounting pressure on the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, to convince the AICC that the alliance struck before the elections had outlived its utility. The Telangana Regional Congress Coordination Committee (TRCCC) leaders have veered round to the opinion that the TRS should not be allowed to share power and remain a champion of Telangana as well.
Leaders' contention
They have urged the political advisor to the Chief Minister, K.V.P. Ramachandra Rao, to convey their sentiments to Dr. Reddy, who is returning from a tour on Tuesday. Two delegations, representing the TRCCC and the CLP, will be leaving for New Delhi to seek an audience with the AICC president, Sonia Gandhi. Their argument is that the TRS derives its strength from its alliance with the Congress and has lost further ground after the elections as evident from the outcome of the Ramagundam municipal polls. They are also trying to impress upon the high command that there is an RSS face to the TRS leadership as A. Narendra, a staunch Swayam Sevak, shares the top slot along with the TRS president, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, in the party.
Resignations issue
The Chief Minister himself has remained non-committal on the issue of withdrawal of resignations by TRS Ministers as the ball is in the AICC court. Dr. Reddy will meet AICC leaders soon and highlight the relative strengths of the Congress and the TRS in Telangana and convince the AICC about the possible adverse impact on the party in the other two regions if it gives in to the TRS demands. The fact-file is interspersed with highlights of the TRS leaders' speeches from the past, particularly, with unflattering references to Ms. Sonia Gandhi.
