NEW DELHI: A Special Task Force (STF) team from Uttar Pradesh was here on Monday to question some persons in connection with the terrorist attack at the Ramjanmabhoomi complex in Ayodhya on July 5. The team has learnt that the terrorists who were killed had stayed in the capital for about a month before moving to Ayodhya to execute their plan. While they were in Ayodhya, they had received some calls from a Delhi-based Idea mobile number. Acting on the information, the STF team reached Delhi to identify the caller and to probe other aspects of the case. While it is not clear whether the team has detained anyone, the Delhi police denied having any information about the STF operation. Investigations into the foiled attack at the Ramjanmbhoomi complex have revealed that the terrorists had entered the country via Nepal.
Six arrested
PTI reports from Ayodhya: The police picked up six persons, including four of a family, from Faizabad in connection with the attack on the Ramjanmabhoomi complex, official sources said on Monday. The arrested family members were associated with the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI), they said. While Mohammad Ahmed and Kamil were detained from the Lalbagh area on Sunday and released after questioning, the two others Zameer and Tanveer were picked up from the same area on Monday and are being interrogated.
