Pune: The long-awaited Pune season, which will begin on August 6 and end on October 30, has been reduced to 25 meetings compared to last year's 33. In all, 832 horses will be taking part during the season. The 25 meetings will have 15 Club race days and 10 Special race days.

As usual, the monsoon track has been laid from 1,400m up to the winning post. B.N. Nanjappa, Estate officer, RWITC, told The Hindu: "This time, Gujarat river sand has been laid on the outer track as it will not harm the hooves of the horses."
