It was indeed a red-letter day for Government Girls Higher Secondary School at Mannachanallur near here when basic facilities like additional school buildings, an open- air auditorium and a library, all established at a whopping cost of nearly Rs.80 lakhs, were inaugurated. Courtesy its academic track record, this Government school alone had received funds to the tune of Rs. 1.64 crore for creation of basic amenities in the last four years. Thanks to its impressive academic performance over the years, this institution has been rated the best among other government schools in the district. The performance of the 40-year old school came in for praise during the function with speakers stating that it was a role model for other Government schools.
