Bangladesh's India tour may be postponed

CHENNAI: : Bangladesh's proposed full tour of India during October is likely to be postponed since the dates clash with that of the Super Series in Australia.

Bangladesh was slated to visit India in April this year but that tour had to be put off because of a packed international calendar, although the heat and the fact that the Indian cricketers were already overworked approaching the end of a gruelling home season might have also been factors.

Once again, Bangladesh's tour of India has run into problems. BCCI secretary S.K. Nair told The Hindu that the Indian Board had communicated to the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) about the non-feasibility of the dates.

"There is an ICC clause which says that during the Super Series no other international series or tournaments should be held. Logically, the tour should have consisted of two Tests and three ODIs, although we were yet to draw up a programme. Both the Boards will now have to agree on fresh dates and find a free slot. We had originally opted for October since the Indian team was returning from Zimbabwe in September and did not have any other commitment in the following month. But the Super Series has changed all that. The BCB president Ali Asghar is aware of the problem," he said. — Our Special Correspondent
