Ganguly eager to work under Chappell

Sports Reporter

KOLKATA: Returning to the city on Tuesday after a brief stint with the English county Glamorgan, Indian captain Sourav Ganguly said that he is enjoying his stay in England as it gave him valuable match practice.

Ganguly, taking a break from his county assignment to join his teammates at Bangalore for the final phase of the camp, said that he was also "looking forward'' to meet the new Indian coach, Greg Chappell. Ganguly said he never met Chappell after he became the national coach, and was looking ahead to work under him. Ganguly added that he has high regard for Chappell who, "as a player was excellent.''

About his experience at Glamorgan, Ganguly said: "it's good to play county cricket. I'm enjoying it. I have made quite a few runs for Glamorgan and it will help me in the international arena.''

The captain said that he had no idea about the progress on the dispute surrounding his six ODI match ban. "Neither the ICC nor the BCCI has given me any indication. So, I have no idea,'' he said, adding that he had no idea of how Justice Albie Sachs, appointed by the International Cricket Council to resolve the dispute, would be going about the task.

Ganguly leaves for Bangalore on Wednesday.
