Isolated rain likely in Tamil Nadu

CHENNAI: Southwest monsoon has been active over Coastal Karnataka.

Rainfall occurred at most places over coastal Karnataka and Kerala, at many places over south interior Karnataka and Lakshadweep and at a few places over Telangana. Isolated rainfall occurred over Tamil Nadu, coastal Andhra Pradesh, Rayalaseema and north interior Karnataka.

The following stations recorded very heavy to heavy rainfall in centimetres: Honavar 15, Karwar and Shirali 12 each, Kota (Udupi dt.) 11, Mulki (Dakshina Kannada dt.) 10, Kundapura (Udupi dt.) and Udupi 9 each and Mangalore Airport 7.

The other chief amounts of rainfall recorded in Centimetres are: Panambur 6, Bantwal (Dakshina Kannada dt.), Karkala (Udupi dt.) and Kaleshwaram (Karimnagar dt.) 5, Thodupuzha (Idduki dt.), Mani and Belthangady (both Dakshina Kannada dt.) and Ramagundam 4 each, Mangalore, Sagar (Shimoga dt.) and Mancherial (Adilabad dt.) 3 each, Valparai, Kannur, Irikkur (Kannur dt.), Piravom (Ernakulam dt.) Chengannur (Alapuzha dt.), Kozha (Kottayam dt.), Thiruvalla (Patanamtitta dt.), Varkala (Thiruvananthapuram dt.), Kammardi and Lakkavalli (both Chickmagalur dt.), Nizamabad and Perur (Khammam dt.) 2 each, Salem, Gudalur Bazzar (Nilgiris dt.), Mavelikara (Alapuzha dt.), Kottayam, Kanjirapally (Kottayam dt.), Punalur, Agathi Airport, Belgaum, Siddapura and Sirsi (both Uttara Kannada dt.), Somwarpet and Madapura (both Kogagu dt.), and Mantralayam (Kurnool dt.) 1 each.

FORECAST (valid until Thursday morning): Rain or thundershowers are likely to occur at most places over Coastal Karnataka and at many places over Kerala and south interior Karnataka and at a few places over Lakshadweep, north interior Karnataka and Telangana.Isolated rain or thundershowers are likely to occur over Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and Rayalaseema.
