NEW DELHI: Promising anytime, anywhere instant wireless Internet connectivity, leading private telecom company, Airtel, has introduced "data card" mainly targeting business users, roamers and travellers. The new card is compatible with "Enhanced Data Rate for Global Evolution" (EDGE) and "General Packet Radio Service" (GPRS) technologies offering speeds up to 200 kbps. It will work on Airtel networks all across the country and also when roaming internationally on GSM networks. The Airtel data card is being launched simultaneously in 13 cities Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Bangalore, Jaipur, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Cochin, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Lucknow and Ludhiana. It comes with three attractive tariff plans and two-year warranty. "The introduction of the high-speed data card adds to Airtel's suite of m-business solutions for its customers, which now also includes the globally acclaimed BlackBerry, brought to India exclusively by Airtel," said Director and Group Chief Marketing Officer (Mobility), Bharti Tele-Ventures, Atul Bindal. "The new service will enable the most comprehensive wireless data connectivity for people on the move and that too all across the country and while roaming internationally. The data card is a slim size device that fits on laptops. Customers can also send and receive SMS from their laptops using the data card," Mr. Bindal added.
