TIRUCHI: The Confederation of Indian Industry would organise a three-day energy exhibition Energex 2005 at Tiruchi from September 23 to 25 to showcase the Tiruchi's capabilities and potential to emerge as a power sector manufacturing hub of the country. The event, the first of its kind, would project Tiruchi's strengths as a centre of manufacturing excellence in fabrication of energy equipment, windmill towers and other power plant equipment. Besides featuring products such as boiler and boiler products, power plant accessories, transmission and distribution equipment, windmill components, heavy and advanced fabrication tools, welding equipment and renewable energy products, the exhibition would also give an opportunity for the industry majors and local entrepreneurs to project their research and development achievements, the Chairman of Energex 2005 and Vice-Chairman, CII, Tiruchi zone, B. V. Ramanan, said addressing a press conference here today. Major players in the field such as the Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd., Neyveli Lignite Corporation, National Thermal Power Corporation, Tamil Nadu Energy Development Agency, ABB Ltd., Siemens, Suzlon, Reliance and fabrication units of Tiruchi were expected to showcase their products and expertise at the exhibition, to be held in a fully air-conditioned tent. The conference venue would also include a business centre. Coinciding with the event, the CII would also host a two-day conference focussing on the current trends and emerging opportunities in the energy sector, including non-conventional energy sources. Industry professionals, experts and research and development organisations would participate in the conference. Attempts were also being made to attract representatives from the State electricity boards, government policy makers and other prospective customers for the manufacturers. About 100 exhibitors from across the country, 250 delegates and 5,000 business and trade visitors were expected to participate in the event. Multi-media presentations on the manufacturing strengths of Tiruchi would also form part of the event. A directory on energy equipment and allied accessories manufacturing sector would also be brought out on the occasion, the Chairman, CII, Tiruchi Zone, M. P.Ramasamy, said. Answering a query, Mr. Ramasamy said the event would seek to spur growth among the 350 and odd ancillary fabrication units in Tiruchi by helping them compete at the national and international level.
