US FDA tentative nod for Aurobindo tablets

HYDERABAD: Aurobindo Pharma has received tentative approval from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for lamivudine and zidovudine, 150 mg and 300 mg combination tablets.

Lamivudine and Zidovudine are in the class of drugs which help keep the AIDS virus from reproducing. This fixed-dose combination anti-retroviral (ARV) drug is intended to be used with other ARV agents for the treatment of HIV-1 infection. The tentative approval by the USFDA will also enable Aurobindo Pharma to participate in President's Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, according to a release.
