HYDERABAD: The Congress Legislature Party (CLP) has appealed to the party high command to dismiss the Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) Ministers from the Union Cabinet. The TRS Ministers -- K. Chandrasekhara Rao and A. Narendra -- deserved to be dropped for their talk against the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government.
`TRS no committed'
The CLP leaders -- A. Indrakaran Reddy, G. Chinna Reddy and D. Sridhar Babu -- told reporters here on Tuesday that the TRS was not committed to the cause of Telangana but was only interested in damaging the latter's interests. It was clear from the speech of Mr. Narendra on Monday when he predicted that the UPA Government would fall soon after their exit from the Cabinet.
Defending the AICC stand on bestowing separate Statehood on Telangana, they said the TRS leaders had become irksome playing `deadline-politics' al along. Mr. Narendra should apologise to the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, publicly for making unparliamentary references against him, the CLP said and told him to cultivate political correctness. Delegation for Delhi A Congress delegation left for New Delhi this evening to apprise the high command of the "mood in the party over the TRS imbroglio". It will plead with Ms. Sonia Gandhi to keep the party's interests in the State before making any move that can send wrong signals to people. It has asked its Telangana leaders camping in New Delhi at preset to stay back to join the delegation.
Narendra warned
Cuddapah Staff Reporter writes: Congress leaders on Tuesday asked Mr. A. Narendra not to stoop down to make intemperate remarks against the Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, lest he would face a backlash from Congressmen. The TRS leaders like Narendra, who expressed confidence in the AICC high command on their demand for Telangana statehood, frequently altered their stand, but Dr. Rajasekhara Reddy had always vouched for the second Sub-Regional Committee (SRC) recommendations, the DCC president, A. Amarnath Reddy, the chief spokesman, N. Thulasi Reddy, the TTD Board member, M. Navaneeswara Reddy and the party leader, S. Akbar Basha, asserted at a press conference here. The Congress leaders described resignation by TRS members from the State Cabinet as `blackmailing tactics' and questioned their continuation in the Union Cabinet, if they were sincere to the Telangana movement.
