CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Government has paid over Rs.2,898 crores to farmers for purchase of 45.30 lakh tonnes of their wheat during the current rabi season, Deputy Chief Minister Chander Mohan said here on Tuesday. He said that the Food and Supplies Department had bought 957,692 metric tonnes of wheat and paid Rs.613crores to the farmers. HAFED had purchased 1,675,245 metric tonnes and paid Rs.1,072crores. The Food Corporation of India had purchased 617,390 metric tonnes and paid Rs.395crores while the Agro-Industries Corporation purchased 429,956 metric tonnes and paid over Rs.275crores. Similarly, the Haryana Warehousing Corporation had purchased 436,451 metric tonnes and paid Rs.279crores and Confed 4,12,709 metric tonnes and paid Rs.264crores. Mr. Chander Mohan disclosed that Sirsa district stood first by procuring 638,319 metric tonnes of wheat followed by Karnal 569,870 metric tonnes, Kaithal 520,885 metric tonnes, Jind 521,290 metric tonnes..
