KANNUR: The Kunhikannan Gold House has instituted an annual award to honour writers, painters and artistes in the northern districts. Managing Partner of the firm C.V. Raveendranath told a press conference on Wednesday that the award named Mayilpeeli Puraskaram would include a cash component of Rs. 25,001, a statuette and a citation. The award would be presented on Janmashtami Day every year, he said. Persons residing in the erstwhile `Kolathunadu' (Kannur, Kasaragod, Mahe, parts of Wayanad and Kozhikode) who made contributions to Malayalam literature, painting, music, sculpture and dance would be considered for the award. Application and entries for the award should reach the Kunhikannan Gold House before August 15.
