A PEP TALK: The Collector, Rajesh Lakhoni, interacting with milk growers at Lower Camp in Theni district on Wednesday.
THENI: Efforts have been taken to sell the milk produced in Theni district in Kerala and to maintain cattle supply for meat. Already, the State Government had interacted with the Kerala Government for purchase of milk and meat, said the Collector, Rajesh Lakhoni. Interacting with milk producers in Lower Camp area on Wednesday, the Collector said he too held a discussion with his counterpart in Idukki district in this connection. Chief Secretary-level talks between the two States were also on to settle the issue amicably. Steps were also taken for movement of cattle to Kerala from Theni district. "We informed the Idukki district administration that meticulous tests and periodical monitoring had proved that that the milk drawn from the cattle here was pure and fit for consumption. Veterinary doctors have been touring the district frequently to intensify checking the cattle and goat. Animal Husbandry officials too tested samples of milk in various villages," he said.
