CHANDIGARH: The Haryana Deputy Chief Minister, Chander Mohan, on Wednesday directed the Deputy Commissioner of Panchkula, Brijendra Singh, to ensure that effective steps are taken to check waterborne diseases in Panchkula district during the rainy season. Mr. Chander Mohan also directed the Civil Surgeon, Satvir Chaudhary, to ensure the availability of medicines in the health institutions so that waterborne diseases including diarrhoea and gastroenteritis, could be checked effectively. He asked Dr.Chaudhary to visit the affected areas. He also directed the Public Health authorities to ensure clean potable water to the people as he was getting several complaints from the residents of Kalka, Pinjore and its adjoining areas regarding supply of contaminated water which was the main reason of spreading waterborne diseases.
