Water level

MADURAI: The water level in the Periyar dam on Wednesday stood at 117.8 feet with an inflow of 1022 cusecs and a discharge of 600 cusecs.

The level in the Vaigai dam was 27.13 feet with an inflow of 155 cusecs and a discharge of 41 cusecs.

The combined Periyar storage was 2398 mcft.

The Periyar dam received 5 mm of rainfall followed by Tekkadi 3 and Sittampatti 2 mm.

Flash strike

A section of lorry owners involved in transporting sand went on a flash strike here on Wednesday. Over 50 trucks did not fly. They were protesting against revenue officials for imposing fine on lorry drivers even on producing valid trip sheets. It is likely to continue on Thursday.

Broadband service to be interrupted

There will be interruption of broadband service as the Bharat Sanchar Nigam will take up upgradation work in its Data One services between 10 p.m. on Thursday and 6 a.m. on Friday, a statement said.

EB grievance meet

A grievance day meeting of East/Madurai division convened by Superintending Engineer, Tamil Nadu Electricity Board, Madurai distribution circle, will be conducted at 11 a.m. in the office of the Executive Engineer, South, Melur, on July 14, says a release.

De-addiction campaign

Tamil Nadu Voluntary Health Association, ORD, DFC, Vaigai Trust, jointly organised a de-addiction campaign at Madurai Sugar Mill Higher Secondary School, Pandiyarajapuram, near here for the benefit of the students.

The headmaster, S. Thirumoolan, the Assistant Headmaster, Radhakrishnan, Anna Durai of Vaigai Trust and others spoke.
