This Day That Age
Prime Minister Nehru said in New Delhi on July 14 that there was a remarkable similarity between the Russians and Americans. Both were hospitable and friendly people - frank, mechanically-minded and liked to do things in a big way. Mr. Nehru said this in an informal address at a reception given in his honour by the Home Minister, Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, at his residence. Those present included the President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad, members of the Cabinet, the Congress President and the Secretary-General, External Affairs Ministry. Welcoming the Prime Minister, Pandit Pant said he had no words of welcome because they had all been employed before. Mr. Nehru spoke about his general impressions of the tour of Russia. He said that the demonstration of popular welcome was spontaneous.
