This Day That Age
The Goan People's Party has announced that it is enrolling Goan volunteers to join the mass satyagraha that would be launched on August 15. Volunteers would join the Indian satyagrahis to be sent into Goa on that day by the All-Party Goa Aid Liberation Committee. A statement issued by the party on July 14 appealed to the dignitaries of the Catholic Church in the "Portuguese Empire" to support the Goan freedom movement. They pointed out that the Pope had agreed that the Goa issue was not a religious but a political one. In Belgaum, at a meeting of women workers a decision was taken to send 100 women volunteers to Goa to offer satyagraha.
