COIMBATORE: Officials of Labour Department have initiated action against 91 shops in the district for selling packaged commodities without requisite details on the packet. An official release said that officials raided 154 shops in Coimbatore, Pollachi, Udumalpet and Valparai. Of this, 91 shops were found selling packaged commodities without details such as manufacturer's address, maximum retail price, packed month and year and name of the commodity. Action has been initiated against these shop owners under the Packaged Commodities Act.
