NEW DELHI: "Raam Naam Satya Hai" is an 18-minute silent film on reverse migration. Made by first-time director Vishwa Bhanu, it revolves round a villager who migrates to a city to fulfil his aspirations but returns to the rural people only to realise that he belongs neither to the city nor the village. "I have attempted to show the ground reality,'' says Bhanu, who has played the lead role in the film. "Despite the progress made in the villages, there are still wealthy landlords who exploit the masses. Then there are non-functional industries and politics dominated by power brokers. I come from Barauni in Bihar and am familiar with rural life." The young director is pinning lots of hopes on his film that is expected to be screened at the Asian First Director's Film Festival in Singapore in November. A graduate from Delhi University's Zakir Husain's College, Bhanu learnt the ropes of acting at Safdar Hashmi's Jana Natya Manch and did a number of street and stage plays. He has also acted in Shiv Subrahmanyam's upcoming film "Cha Cha Cha", Sanjay Dahima's "Ramji from London" and "Thakaan". "Raam Naam Satya Hai'' will be screened at Delhi's Akshara Theatre on Friday at 7-30 p.m.
