BANGALORE: Many do it for fun; dancing away the night. Few do it as a dare and attempt dancing non-stop for a whole week. That is exactly what 32-year-old Ka. Raa. Chandra, a Range Forest Officer by profession, is going to do from July 17 to 24 at the Malleswaram grounds in Bangalore.
Breaks
There will be brief breaks for necessities such as food and water, but the canned music will play on and his dancing shoes will be worn out, perhaps several pairs of them, Mr. Chandra promised presspersons here on Thursday. He has already drawn up the daily schedule for the dancing marathon. The Mayor, R. Narayanaswamy, the Chief Conservator of Forests (Vigilance), B. Shivanna Gowda, and the Kanakapura MP, Tejaswini Ramesh, will be among the guests of honour who will witness his dancing feat on different days. Mr. Chandra has already written to the Guinness World Records in the United Kingdom and received their reply. They have stipulated the rules and specified that his dancing must be video recorded, witnessed and submitted. The Guinness people have also written "there is no record for this (longest dance marathon) category yet. However, you may wish to check with us again to be sure a new record has not been set in the interim." Well, even for avid disco-goers, one long night of dancing is often enough.
