KOZHIKODE: The Kalanilayam drama troupe that has produced several popular Malayalam dramas, will stage its first show in several years in the city in August. The shows will be held at the dream city grounds. Kalanilayam's 5,000 sq. ft stage that facilitates the presentation of spellbinding scenes has always been a crowd puller. The work on the Kalanilayam stage was inaugurated by Deputy Mayor P.T. Abdul Latheef on Thursday at a function attended by Anathapadmanabhan of Kalanilayam, camp manager of the troupe Gopakumar and corporation councillors P. Sathyan and Sathyaprakash. Kalanilayam had faded away from the theatre scene after the demise of its founder, Kalanilayam Krishnan Nair, in 1980.
