LUCKNOW: The Uttar Pradesh Government's decision to exempt the Manoj Bajpai-Shilpa Shetty starrer ``Fareb'' from entertainment tax has raised questions about the criteria for tax exemption of films. Chief Secretary Neera Yadav, who had announced the decision at a press briefing after the meeting of the State Cabinet on Tuesday, was at pains to explain the rationale behind the decision. ``It is a well thought out decision taken by the Cabinet so that the people of the State can have entertainment'', she said to persistent queries from the media. Ms. Yadav, however, evaded a reply when asked about the reasons that prompted the Government to exempt `Fareb' from entertainment tax. In the past also the State Government had granted exemption from entertainment tax to several Amitabh Bachchan starrers like `Baghbaan', `Bunty Aur Babli' and `Black'. Amitabh Bachchan, who is the brand ambassador of the State and member of the UP Development Council, is considered close to senior Samajwadi Party leaders. --PTI
