Congress MLA manhandled
Special Correspondent
CHENNAI:
Congress MLA S.G. Vinayagamurthi was allegedly manhandled by party workers at the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee office here on Thursday.
Four workers, belonging to the North Chennai District Congress Committee, barged into Mr. Vinayagamurthi's room at Sathyamurthi Bhavan and attacked him. Other party workers came to his rescue. Mr. Vinayagamurthi suffered bruises and was given first aid.
On hearing about the attack, TNCC president G.K. Vasan suspended all the four from the party.
Party sources said the attack followed the MLA's participation in Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's function in the city recently and his reported praise for the welfare schemes initiated by the State Government and beautification of the city.
