Congress meet on Telengana

Special Correspondent

NEW DELHI: The Congress has convened a meeting between the Telengana Rashtra Samiti chief, K. Chandrasekhara Rao, and the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister, Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy, here on July 20. The meeting is an attempt by the party to sort out the problems between the TRS and the State Congress leadership that led to the exit of six TRS Ministers from the Andhra PradeshGovernment.

The meeting, to be held at the Andhra Pradesh Bhawan here, would discuss six issues concerning development of Telangana region raised by Mr. Rao, who was critical of the "anti-Telengana attitude'' of the Chief Minister. Interacting with correspondents, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh was hopeful that talks were a way out in democracy and disagreed with suggestions that such a meeting might not yield any result. Mr. Singh, in-charge of party affairs in the State, said the party wanted the TRS to remain in the UPA Government .
