Sacrifice is our central theme, says RSS

Neena Vyas

NEW DELHI: "Sacrifice" and "discipline" are the central themes of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh. "When an individual, an organisation or the country is in crisis, sacrifice is the answer to solving the problem," Indaresh, Sah Sampark Pramukh of the RSS, said here on Thursday.

"Sacrifice, not self-indulgence, makes a hero. `Bhog' (self-indulgence) can place him in further difficulties."

He was speaking at a meeting held here to condole with the death of Sunder Singh Bhandari, former Governor of Bihar and Gujarat.

Bharatiya Janata Party leaders Atal Bihari Vajpayee, L.K. Advani and Jaswant Singh and Vice-President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat, who knew Bhandari for over five decades, were present.

Mr. Vajpayee and Mr. Advani talked about the strict discipline Bhandari maintained in the party. Mr. Shekhawat said he met Bhandari shortly before his death and he told him that "the party was facing difficult days (hum sankat ke dinon mein hain ... )."
