On the road to nowhere!

A German car major, its under-fire manager for India, a mysterious Indian company, Rs. 11 crores and a red-faced Government. The spicy potboiler in the shape of the Volkswagen deal seems to be careening out of control on the State's official roads. Andhra Pradesh began wooing the car manufacturer long ago, when the Telugu Desam Party was in power. The Congress came and stepped up the courting procedure. For the media, it was Volkswagen everywhere — Volkswagen deal through, Volkswagen here, Volkswagen there... and then, screech! Sudden brakes. Those in the front seat ended up with big lumps on their foreheads. Could Schumacher have been of any help?
