Apprenticeship selections

The Director, Board of Apprenticeship Training in Chennai, is conducting centralised apprenticeship selections for 2005-2006 at Government Junior College, Nampally, on Friday and Saturday.

Students, who have passed vocational courses in Intermediate, are eligible. Candidates should not have completed three years from the date of passing and should not have undergone apprenticeship previously. Nearly 1,500 placements are available.

Elected president of graduates' association

B. Venkateshwar was elected president of the Osmania Graduates' Association, one of the oldest organisations in the city, at a general body meeting held recently.

The other office-bearers are: S. Padma Rao (vice-president), T.V. Gopala Chari (secretary), A. Jaganatham (joint secretary) and Mohd. Iqbal Ali Khan (treasurer). Fifteen others were elected managing committee members, according to a press release.

NIMS plea for blood donation

Nizam's Institute of Medical Sciences, facing an acute shortage of `AB' negative group of blood, has appealed to the general public to donate blood voluntarily and help needy patients.

Appointed Dean

A. Vidyadhar Reddy has been appointed Dean, Department of Business Management, Osmania University, for a period of two years.

Prof. Reddy, who was chairman, Board of Studies of Business Management, takes over from Prof. Abbas Ali, according to a press release.

Bonalu from July 22

`Bonalu' festival in old city will be organised at the Akkanna and Madanna Mahankali temple from July 22.

The `Mahabhishekham' and `Matha Mahankali Ghatams' will be installed in various temples on July 24 concluding with the main festival on July 31 and procession `Mahankali Jathara' on August 1, according to the procession committee chairman, G. Niranjan.
