NEW DELHI: Two Nigerian nationals, allegedly part of the infamous "Black Dollar Scam", have been arrested in South Extension here by the Central Bureau of Investigation. "Black Dollar Scam" was a `technique' employed to cheat people on the pretext of offering them currency notes coloured in black at a cheap price. The CBI recently received a complaint from a person alleging that a Nigerian, who identified himself as Vincent Nicholas Ikurralo, contacted him through e-mail for investment in real estate in India. Lured by the offer, the complainant agreed to meet Vincent. At the meeting, another Nigerian national, who identified himself as Andre, came with Vincent. During the meeting, the accused claimed that they had a large number of "defaced" Rs. 1,000 notes, which could be brought to their original form by applying a chemical. They also gave a live demonstration to the complainant and converted a defaced piece of paper into Rs. 1,000 note by applying the chemical. They then asked him to bring Rs. 50,000 in Rs. 1,000 denominations in exchange for the "defaced" notes worth Rs. 1 lakh. Suspecting that he was being taken for a ride, the person informed the CBI. Subsequently, the CBI sleuths laid a trap and arrested the accused, Vincent and Oluwadamilare Disu alias Andre. During interrogation, they allegedly disclosed that they would trap innocent people by contacting them through e-mail or Internet chat-rooms.
