Breathing life into a new party

The youngest party in the State, the National Congress (Indira), founded by the veteran leader K.Karunakaran has now launched a Malayalam fortnightly, `Chethana,' as part of its efforts to make its presence felt on the political scene in the State.

Party president K.Muralidharan is also the chief editor of this publication, which is in tabloid form and is published from Thalassery. It seeks to strive for promoting such values as democracy, secularism and socialism, according to the indications in its masthead.

The editorial of the inaugural issue has praised the resignation of nine MLAs of the Congress (I), who have since joined the NC (I), as a sacrifice made for upholding moral values in politics.

Karunakaran will himself be dealing with the regular feature `nethrumozhi', (leader-speak), an analysis based on contemporary political developments. Muralidharan too has a column, to answer the queries of the readers.

The other regular columns are to be handled by senior leaders of the party, like M.A. John and K.P. Kunhikkannan. With photos galore, sharp and focussed articles `Chethana,' hopes to impress its readers and inspire party workers.
