Henkel India gets OHSAS 18001

KARAIKAL:
Henkel India Ltd., jointly promoted by Henkel KgaA, Germany and Tamilnadu Petroproducts Ltd., has been awarded the OHSAS 18001:1999 (occupational health and safety application system) certification on Friday for its Karaikal facility in the Union Territory of Pondicherry in recognition of its structured approach to hazard identification and risk management. The OHSAS 18001 certification audit was conducted by DQS GmbH of Germany.
Satish Kumar, Managing Director, Henkel India, who received the award here on Friday, said the Karaikal plant was the first Henkel facility outside Europe and the second plant out of 39 detergent plants worldwide to be awarded the prestigious OHSAS certification.
He said the state-of-the-art factory at Karaikal was inaugurated in March 1993 and commercial production commenced during August 1993. The plant has a capacity of 30,000 tonnes of detergent and 10,000 tonnes zeolites.
