KOCHI: The Kerala Air Passengers' Association has demanded withdrawal of the users' fee being collected by Cochin International Airport Authority Ltd. (CIAL) from international passengers. Addressing a press conference here on Friday, Kurian P. John, general secretary of the association, said no users' fee was being collected at the Karipur airport. The Karipur airport authorities were forced to stop collection of users' fee following a High Court order. He said there was no justification for collecting users' fee since CIAL was running on profit.
`No word from Chandy'
Though Chief Minister Oommen Chandy had said that it was not fair to levy users' fee, he did not utter any word against the collection at CIAL's Board meeting. The Government was adopting double standard, he alleged.
