BANGALORE: A man opened fire at a gang of armed dacoits and foiled an attempt to loot his house in Anekal police station limits in Bangalore Rural district early on Friday. The police said that around 2 a.m. the dacoits struck at the farmhouse of Ramaiah, an agriculturist and owner of a tiles factory, on the outskirts of Anekal. Ramaiah and his son, Sathyanarayana, were woken up as the dacoits were trying to cut the window grills. When they could not cut the grills, the dacoits attempted to break open the rear door of the house. Ramaiah opened fire at the dacoits through an open window. After the dacoits ran away, Ramaiah and Sathyanarayana went to the backyard of their house and found bloodstains on the ground in the cowshed. The police suspect at least one of the dacoits could have been injured after being hit by a bullet. The Anekal police have registered a case.
