Errors in new ration cards

VISAKHAPATNAM: The issue of new ration cards by the district administration here, apart from the slow process, is also beset with a number of misprints on the cards.

A white cardholder, Lakshmana Rao, who resides in Ramalakshmi Apartments in Pedawaltair, told The Hindu on Friday that he collected his new card at the KDPM High School centre by paying a fee of Rs. 40.

To his horror, he found his annual income was recorded in the card as Rs. 21 lakhs, instead of Rs. 2.1 lakhs!

"Why should I go in for a ration card if my income were to be Rs. 21 lakhs,'' Mr. Lakshmana Rao quipped and said that the door number of his residence noted on the card was also wrong.
