VISAKHAPATNAM: Though new generation trends of computerisation and information technology have opened up vistas for high revenue generation, lack of knowledge and lack of sincerity on the part of law-making and law-enforcing bodies in the country was somewhat destabilising the activity, according to the honorary president of Software and Data Entry Entrepreneurs Association, D. Ravi Kumar.
Trend
Talking to mediapersons here on Saturday, he feared that this trend might give scope for monopoly in the fields of IT and IT-enabled services (ITES) and witness frauds as well. ``It is unfortunate that the Government extends facilities and subsidies only to the corporate sector which is financially sound and denies the same to small and medium scale entrepreneurs who deserve them most. Our association has about 9,800 members all over the country and we have concluded a combined $300,000 business, with over a $1 million business to be completed."
Curbing frauds
"The business is distributed among our members. We want to stabilise the resources, streamline our functioning, curb frauds in the IT and ITES sector, and generate employment in a big way,'' he claimed. Mr. Ravi Kumar called for a radical change in the banking system, and bankers should be made responsible in respect of letters of credit (LCs) and bank guarantee, as this was where the entire process of fraud by BPOs was taking place. Another complaint of his was against the policing system as the Indian police did not aim at finding solutions and protecting the interests of the general public.
Statistics
``Of late, like in the marketing field, we see that the police only work for statistics by making arrests and filing cases and do not make in-depth investigations to recover the lost property,'' he alleged. Recognition to the association from the Government and the Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), allotment of lands and providing infrastructure facilities and subsidies were his other demands.
