TIRUCHI: The Institute of Ophthalmology - Joseph Eye Hospital has established a quality management system - ISO 9001:2000, which is certified by the TUV-America, accredited to American National Accreditation Board. With this, quality assurance and excellence in eye care delivery through this hospital have been recognised, which will raise its status as a global institution, its Director, C. A. Nelson Jesudasan, said while speaking at a function to present the ISO certificate organised here on Saturday. A. Zameer Pasha, president, Indian Medical Association (IMA), Tamil Nadu branch, said quality in healthcare is more important today than ever before. He lauded the hospital for excelling in health care and possessing state-of-the-art equipments, expertise and hi-tech services. He urged its management to institute awards in the memory of its legendry founder, late Joseph Gnanadickam, to honour the outstanding service rendered in medical and non-medical fields. Dr. Zameer Pasha explained the steps taken by the IMA to bring relief to the tsunami victims. Initiative had been taken to rope in private organisations to mobilise funds for construction of permanent shelters and provision of boats to fishermen. T. Aruldoss, Bishop, Tamil Evangelical Lutheran Church, commissioned Ziegenbalg Institute of Printing Technology. Dr. Zameer Pasha presented the ISO certificate to Dr. Nelson Jesudasan.
