TAMBARAM: A 29-year-old man was crushed to death when he tried to board a moving bus at Tambaram on Sunday evening. Ranjit of Kancheepuram joined the Transport Department as a casual workers only a couple of days ago, the police said. It is still not known which division he belonged to. He had come to Tambaram only to be told that he did not have any work today. He was on his way to the mofussil bus stand to board a 79 PP bus to reach Kancheepuram. While he was nearing the pedestrian crossing opposite the railway station, he noticed the bus approaching the bus stand. Though he managed to cling on to the steps, he came into contact with another transport corporation bus near the bay. He slipped down the steps and fell on the road and was run over by the bus. He was rushed to the Chromepet Government Hospital, where he was declared dead.
