Five held for burglary

CHENNAI:
Five persons were arrested on Saturday in connection with a burglary in a jewellery shop at Bhoomadevi Nagar, Kolapakkam on February 17.
The Mangadu police said the accused were Vimal Kumar alias Guru (20) of Puduperungalathur, Nelson (22) and Karthik (24) of Kovur, Ussain (26) of Kunrathur, Madan alias Srinath (24) of Urapakkam. The police recovered 25 sovereigns of jewellery and seized a Tata sumo used by the accused.
Two persons of a three-member gang involved in a robbery at Madhanandapuram near Porur were arrested on Saturday.
The Mangadu police said they robbed a civil engineer of his two-wheeler, mobile phone, gold chain and ring, and Rs. 500 in cash, threatening him at gunpoint on July 5 morning.
The accused were Sibu (26) of Tiruvananthapuram and Saravanan (36) of Tirumazhisai near Poonamallee.
The police recovered a two-wheeler, a mobile phone and seized the country guns they used. Sasi (24) is yet to be traced.
