Police arrest 11 persons including five young girls

  • The raid was conducted following a tip-off
  • Semi nude girls were found on the premises
  • Owner of the beauty parlour arrested

VISAKHAPATNAM: Close on the heels of busting a sex racket at a guest house on the beach road, the police arrested 11 persons, including five young girls on the charge of running a sex joint under the garb of a beauty clinic in a posh area in the city.

On a tip-off, the Commissioner of Police, V.S.K. Kaumudi, sent a team of officials from III Town Police Station led by the Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police, A.V. Subba Rao, to raid the beauty clinic in Peda Waltair.

During the raid, the police seized cash amounting to Rs. 16,800.

The arrested included the owner of the parlour, R. Nagaraju, a resident of MVP Colony. The parlour had been in operation for the last two years.

The raid also coincided with the telecast of goings-on in the parlour by TV 9, which the Telugu news channel had recorded through a hidden camera sometime ago.

Mr. Kaumudi told The Hindu that the parlour management was running the sex den by luring customers for a body massage by girls. They were charging Rs. 300 to gain an entry for a massage and later the customers were asked to finalise a deal with the masseurs.

Asked about other beauty clinics/parlours offering massage in the city, Mr. Kaumudi said they would study the functioning of all other beauty clinics/parlours and take action against them as and when required. A few weeks before the beauty parlour raid, the police arrested several sex workers at a guest house after the Deputy Commissioner of Police, Lakshmi Reddy, posing himself as a contractor from Nellore, checked into the guesthouse.

Recently, the police had also busted a hi-tech sex racket -- engaging sex workers in cars on the busy highway in Gajuwaka area.
