MBBS rank list released by Selection Committee

CHENNAI: Divyambigai of Erode, who secured 300 out of 300, tops the MBBS rank list, which was released by the Selection Committee under the Directorate of Medical Education here on Saturday.

The second and third rankers are Divya Lakshmi of Pollachi and A. Mahesh of T. Pudur, Sivaganga district.

Directorate officials said 10,370 applications were found eligible for admission to medical/BDS and other related courses.

In all, Tamil Nadu has 1,545 seats in 13 government medical colleges, including government college at Vellore, which has been approved by the Medical Council of India for this year.

Last year, the single window seats matrix had 1,246 seats, besides 156 for the all-India quota; 43 seats went to students in special categories including physically-disabled and dependents on freedom fighters and children of ex-servicemen.

The counselling schedule shows 430 students have been called under OC category, 425 under BC category, 285 under MBC category, 260 under SC category and 15 under ST category.
