MUMBAI: Bollywood actor Salman Khan appeared before the Detection Crime Branch of the Mumbai police on Sunday in connection with the alleged taped conversation between him and actress Aishwarya Rai. The police have started investigations to ascertain the tapes' authenticity. Salman was accompanied by his lawyer Dipesh Mehta who confirmed that the actor had called at the Detection Crime Branch office at Andheri at around I pm. Salman was questioned for nearly four hours and his voice sample was also taken to verify the taped conversation. After recording his statement and after obtaining his voice sample, Salman was allowed to leave, top police official sources said. Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister R. R. Patil is likely to make a statement in the Assembly on July 20 on the taped conversation between Salman and Aishwarya Rai. Mean while Salman, in an interview on Sunday, claimed that the voices on the tapes were neither his nor Aishwarya's. UNI
