HYDERABAD: The Mayor, T. Krishna Reddy, on Monday announced an ex-gratia of Rs. 50,000 each from his discretionary fund to parents of two children killed in a wall collapse due to the recent rain at Phoolbagh in Aliabad.

This will be in addition to the Rs. 50,000 to be given by Municipal Corporation of Hyderabad and Rs. 1 lakh each from the Government side as announced by Ministers Koneru Ranga Rao and Mohd. Shabbir Ali.

Ten-year-old Deepak and three-year-old Devika were killed when the wall abutting a MCH playground gave away. Mr. Krishna Reddy visited the area and consoled the victims' parents - Suresh and Lalitha and Vijay and Sangita. He also assured them of providing them with a proper dwelling under the VAMBAY scheme. The injured would be given Rs. 5,000 each.
