COIMBATORE: `Be creative' was the buzzword at Horlicks Wiz Kids 2005 and Wiz Team competition held in here on Tuesday. The evening belonged to Atulla Krishnamurthy of SBOA Matriculation Higher Secondary School and Jyotsna of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan (in junior category) and Divyakrishnan of Shri Nehru Maha Vidhyalaya and J. Madhusudhanan of SBOA (in senior category), as they emerged winners after a tough fight.
Finale in Bangalore
The four students will form the Horlicks Wiz Team 2005 and compete against 96 students from other 24 cities at the grand finale to be held in Bangalore this November. Winners were selected for their overall personality, stage presence, confidence, communication and stress management in talent round, versatility round and the final Q&A round. In versatility round, students were asked to come out with innovative methods to sell a chosen product. While Atulla came up with an idea to make dashing earrings with a string, Divyakrishnan described her eraser as the one that can erase memories. In the final round, the students were tested on skills such as decision-making, inter-personal skills, critical thinking, creativity, problem solving and handling emotions.
Rocking with activity
The venue, SNR auditorium, was rocking with activity as more than 3,000 students from over 30 schools showcased their talents in a variety of learning and fun-based activities such as music, painting, essay writing, quiz and sports.
Atmosphere of fun
It was an atmosphere of fun, frolic and competition for not just the participants but also the audience.
Spectators chosen
The student spectators were chosen randomly and asked to dance to the tunes of fast numbers in the first round. In the second round, they had to come up with funny dance movements. And, guess who judged the winners? The audience - a resounding yes for best performances and no for poor performances. The Horlicks Wiz Team is a unique concept that will culminate in the selection of six of the smartest and sharpest kids, who can display all-round talent.
Final team
The final team will be judged on several parameters such as character, competence and overall personality, which include academics, sports, social work, innovation and special achievements. The Horlicks Overall Champion 2005 was bagged by students from SBOA school.
