Bangladesh's visit only deferred: BCCI

New Delhi: Despite failing to host Bangladesh for the second time this year, BCCI insists the proposed tour of India is still on. The only stumbling block is a time that suits both the boards.

Talking to UNI over phone on Tuesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) secretary, S. K. Nair, said: "The tour has not been scrapped but only deferred. We are in constant touch with the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) and we are working on finding a time that suits both the parties.''

Bangladesh was originally scheduled to tour India in April but the BCCI deferred the visit because of the series against Pakistan.

The tour was rescheduled to October but with the Super Series being scheduled around that time, the BCCI expressed its inability to host Bangladesh.

``The itinerary is quite packed and so we are considering other options to find the right alternative,'' Mr. Nair said.

Desperate to save the series, the BCB president, Ali Asghar, has already proposed a split tour and hopes BCCI would somehow manage to squeeze it in. — UNI
